What is in office lasers?

What is Cataract Surgery?

Cataracts cloud as we age, the cloudier they become the harder it is to see clearly out of the eyes natural lens. Generally, the cloudiness occurs later in life, with 50% of people over the age of 80 needing or having had Cataract surgery. The procedure is quick focusing on one eye at a time, removing the eyes natural lens using high technology ultrasound (called Phaco-emulsification) the benefit being a tiny incision that generally does not even require stitches. The lens is then replaced with an IOL, an Intra-ocular Lens, we use the latest lenses that allow the patient to see both near (reading) and far (driving).

What is Oculoplastic surgery?

Oculoplastic Surgery is surgery that focuses on the area around the eye including the orbit (eye socket), eyelids, tear ducts, and the face. Oculoplastic surgery can be done for people who have undergone facial trauma such as being in a motor vehicle accident, or for patients that have an esthetic issue such as droopy eyelids. Most surgeries of this type are outpatient, taking less than an hour to perform.
